The seventies were the period when the house of Givenchy started to expand as a fashion house. They introduced Gentleman Givenchy, the fashion line for the male population. The boutique was opened in November the year 1969 at Avenue George V; the designs were appealing as they were up to date. Later that year, Givenchy came up with the short dress.Cristobal Balenciaga advised Givenchy to develop his licenses; this move was meant to protect his haute couture collections. 1971 saw Givenchy design embroidered coats in the honor of Joan Miro and Georges Braque.
